MARTIN GARRIX & BEBE REXHA - IN THE NAME OF LOVE - GOODWIN ANALYSIS.

For the GENRE CHARACTERISTICS, we can see that the intensity of the music increases, as well as the pacing of the shots. In this music video, a synthesiser has been used, to create and generate many sounds of musical instruments in the background, whilst other instruments are playing. The heavy and  calm sounds that flow together, equate to the intensity to be increased. The audience will feel a solid connection with Bebe Rexha, as the close ups of her face, and her direct eye contact involve the audience's participation and engagement. The audience will easily be able to notice her appearance. The shots, beats, and the overall flow of the song work well with the high and low points of the intensity of the music.

For the MUSIC & VISUALS, we can see that whenever we hear the beat of the song, the camera movements and types of shots begin to correspond and sync in time with the beat. As a result of this, the audience can interact by either clapping their hands, stomping their feet, and freely getting involved in the excitement of the music video. At various points of the music video, we see high intensity sound and footage. Between 50 to 60 seconds, we see a change in the intensity of the music being played.

For the LYRICS & VISUALS, at around 36 seconds, she says "When there's no-one by your side"... The footage on screen shows us a close up / mid shot of her standing all by herself. The objective here is that the lyrics and visuals in the song tend to match and relate to one another. Also, at 30 seconds of the music video, she says "In the darkness"... The footage on screen shows the dark water in the pool, to represent darkness. At various points of the music video, the audience will experience the lyrics and the visuals matching and complementing / backing up one another.

For INTERTEXTUALITY, we can see that the balcony shots of Garrix and the positioning of Bebe's hair is similar to Taylor Swift's actions in her song called "Blank Space". In her song she is also standing at a balcony, and also has a similar style of side parting her hair just like Bebe has. This is quite an obvious reference on how the 2 music videos share some kind of similarity.

For VOYEURISM, we can see that Bebe Rexha's red lipstick and red dress represents lust, seductiveness, sexual tension, and also romance and love. This is pleasing for the male gaze, and also how her dress accentuates her curves and body features. On the other hand, this music video does not particularly focus on voyeuristic features as much, as that is not the main priority objective of this CONCEPT / NARRATIVE BASED music video.
