OUR PITCH.

As a group, we have decided to choose a song called "Girls Like", by Tinie Tempah ft. Zara Larsson. Our sole purpose for choosing this song was because of the amazing dancing and performance, the vibrant and colourful atmosphere created in the music video, but most importantly, the upbeat and catchy rhythm and feel of the song. This song includes slow, medium, fast and super slow-motion rhythm, lyrics and beats. We really like the idea of having a change in pace in a music video, as we are then able to implement our own content, adapting to the beat of the music video. The genre for this music video crosses over between pop and rap.

Our music video has a disjointed narrative, but is broken up by the dance performance of the male character, and the performance of the female character in different locations. (vice versa)

Our narrative is fairly simple and easy to detect. We have a male and a female character who both express their views about the opposite sex in terms of having a relationship, and also how they are portrayed generally. We have a male character talk about how he has succeeded in life, and we have a female character talk about what boys like to see and what they want from girls. The message in our music videos is based on interpretation from the viewer / audience, as they may relate to success in a man's life, or girls spotting out what boys really want from girls in a sexual manner.

Throughout our music video, you will see various shots and cuts, depicting the mood and atmosphere of the music video at that moment of time. There is more dancing from the male character in the music video, as he is happy and excited about his success. There is a sense of a partly like atmosphere from both characters in our music video, but we tend to see a more jolly male character as they are seen to be instigating the love life between themselves and the "girls". The girl in our music video is portrayed as friendly, chirpy and loves to express herself by showing off her beauty, ample assets and body.

The most important aspect in our music video is the use of dance and performance. Myself and my other group member were really passionate about using dance moves and locations to express the change in mood. Pace in our music video will be showed by footage at normal speed, sped up footage and also slow motion footage.

However, at first we chose the songs, "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green and also "Leave Right Now" by Will Young. The problem with the first choice of song was that it was a complicated project to undertake as we would need a lot of people and props to make the music video lively and turn out to be spectacular. We were unable to do this as we did not have the time nor a good enough sense of ideas and imagination for this music video. The second music video was completely out of order, as we had been instructed by both our media teachers to choose a new song, due to there being no beat in the song by Will Young. The song by this artist was very monotone, slow and was a ballad, calm and peaceful song. It had a poem like structure for the lyrics and was completely bland in all aspects hence why we had changed our song choice for the third and final time, to... "Girls Like" by Tinie Tempah ft. Zara Larsson.

Overall, I would say that we are near ready to execute this project, in order to have an outcome of a great music video. I believe that our approach to the performance, characters and sharp editing will convey the codes and conventions of pop and rap music videos. This is clearly shown by the rap parts of the song being sung by the male character, and the pop parts of the song mainly being sung by the female character. (along with the performance backed up for each genre)
We as a group of 2, will most certainly accomplish this music video we have in mind to create.

We have been inspired by the colourisation used in the Weeknd's music video (Party Monster) and have also been inspired by the use of performance in Drake's music video (Started From The Bottom)
The pop approach to our music video idea was influenced by integrating Zara Larsson's style in our music video for the female character (lively and sexy) and the rap approach to our music video was influenced by Ayo and Teo's style of using various dance moves as well as the people in the grime industry using many hand gestures and body language. I truly believe that our music video will be able to show all these ideas and have a great sense in mirroring the pop and rap genre aspects of the music industry.
