VOYEURISM: THE FEMALE GAZE.

Voyeurism is where there is pleasure attained to the individual (viewer), by watching sexual content often containing nudity, as well as me / women wearing tight fitted clothes in order to show the various highlights of their body. In the music videos of our current generation, we see that women empower men in the music videos, although there may be certain times where the male has a slight advantage or more control over the women at certain times of a music video.
Freud's theory on voyeurism is how men / women are "looking" at something to gain sexual pleasure.

The "Female Gaze" is about how women perceive and are looking at men and what they are actually looking and focusing on. An example of the female gaze would be Fifth Harmony's song called "Work from Home" (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) In this music video, we can clearly see that the women are dominating the men in terms of who's taking charge, but are essentially talking about how the men (workers) do not have to go to work, and how they should let the girls body do the work for them (in a sexual manner). Although the females play the more dominant role throughout the music video, we can instantly see that the men have great influence over them and the female viewers as well.

As soon as the music video starts, we can see that the camera tilts upwards (starting facing downwards to the ground). We see a builders shoe appear onscreen, as an arm extends downwards to pick up a heavy sack of cement. The female gaze is alive, as the female viewers now know that a male is on screen. As the tilting is complete, we see the male worker hold the heavy sack of cement with one arm over his shoulder. Despite all this, the main attraction is that the male worker is wearing a white vest, has his shirt wrapped around his waist, and most importantly has extremely huge and toned muscles with his veins popping out. Instantly, we can tell that the female gaze is very pleased with this beginning, as the women's stereotypical dream is to have a strong, muscular, hardworking sexy man by their side. The man's jawline and enormous biceps attract the female viewers in a sexual manner, and tends to seduce them in such a way that they are in complete awe of what is in front of them. The camera and framing is set out very well, as only what is needed to be shown (from the waist and above of the male) is shown onscreen.
The women are interested in the only part of the males body, as their skin is showing. It is clearly evident that the female gaze is the primary focus, as the first 9 seconds of the music video heavily concentrate on the male and his actions. We can also see 2 male workers working in the background(one who is topless). This is only a glimpse and a taster for the female gaze, as more nudity is yet to come in the later stages of the music video. The female gaze is already stimulated and excited as the first 9 seconds builds up their excitement levels to see more of the males muscular bodies. At exactly 12 seconds, we see a low angle shot of a topless man using an angle grinder to carry out his building work. This shot only lasts 1 second, and is really significant as it teases the female gaze, as they would want that particular shot to last longer so that they could observe the male. The six pack, ripped pectoral chest muscles and the rest of the body / skin of the workers are all shiny and reflective, due to all the sweat accumulating whilst they are working hard. We also see another 1 second shot of the topless builder at 14 seconds of the music video. The female gaze is experiencing such pleasure because of the small glimpses, although they are not fully satisfied, as they want more footage of the males upper body to be shown. The frequent shots of the males bodies acts as a catalyst that speeds up the rate at which the females are sexually stimulated. At 19 seconds there is a shot of a worker pushing a wheelbarrow and at 22 seconds, a shot of the workers face, highlighting their jawline and collarbone. This is deliberately done in order for the women to stare at the men's bodies each time they appear onscreen.
Just to take into consideration, in-between all the shots of the male bodies which are shown, the camera cuts back to the female dancers as the director wants tension and crave to be built up between the female viewers.
At 39 seconds we can see one of the workers help lift up one of the dancers. This would be appealing to women as men will always be there for them as their helping hand. Also, the workers shirt was unbuttoned which drives the female gaze. At 49 seconds we see a half second big close up shot of one of the workers huge bicep, and a part of his face. The huge bicep shot is deliberate, in order to seduce the female viewers, hence satisfy and provide pleasure for the female gaze. At 52 seconds, we see a long shot of the worker drilling into the ground. The female viewers get  a full picture of his body and are instantly in awe. There is a close up shot of the workers chest and arms, emphasising his unique build, also allowing the female viewers to stay hooked onto the short glimpses they receive. Until 1 minute and 14 seconds, we continue to see different shots and cuts between the muscular male workers, and the sexy dancers. Between 1 minute and 21 seconds to 1 minute and 23 seconds, we see one of the workers get pulled towards one of the dancers via his vest, and results in a seductive smile. The female gaze is in love with how easy they would have men under their control, but also love how the Male's reaction includes a hint of sexual desire. From 2 minutes and 18 seconds, to 2 minutes and 54 seconds, we see a male rapper with a lot of tattoos on his body, hanging out with the girls. The female gaze has experienced something new whereby some viewers may have a fetish for a muscular man with tattoos, hence how it stimulates the body, provides a sexual atmosphere and also accompanies the female gaze.
For the remaining of the music video until the very end, we continue to see various shot exchanges between the sexy dancers and the various muscular workmen. The main highlight of this technique is to show various parts of the body at different times. At times we see a the workers six-pack, bicep, chest, face or the full body. This is done to create an atmosphere based around sexual attractiveness for the female viewers.
Throughout the entire music video, we have been seeing glimpses of the male workers. The director has been very clever when deciding how to make their bodies look aesthetically pleasing. We can see this in the music video as the workers have a very oily body, which makes their ripped physique and build of the body stand out, due to the reflection of the sunlight as well.

The idea of exposing certain parts and characteristics of the workers, enable the female viewers to feel at comfort and at ease. The workers are portrayed as hard working, but at the same time, are very very sexy. The men are seen as motivation factors towards women, as well as portraying a very macho exterior. The women are promiscuous, hence why they adore and find the company of the "sexy male worker" a very joyous time.
Overall, we can see that men are very desirable in the eyes of the women. The half or 1 second shots of a part of the males body seem to be very valuable to the female viewers, as they tend to treasure these moments and look forward onto the next moment. The female audience is set to expand, as many females are interested in this sexual trait of men having spectacular and attractive bodies. To an extent, the males identity is almost hidden, as their robust bodies are the main attraction. We could describe the male bodies as honey, and the females as bees, as bees are attracted to honey in a similar way on how females are attracted to the body of a sexy male. The "FEMALE GAZE" will never fully be satisfied, as the crave for more shots of the workers six-pack, biceps and face are still desired. It is an ongoing and a never ending journey from the perspective of the females. To conclude, the female gaze is able to capture the key moments and instantly be turned on sexually in terms of viewing the male workers body in a sexual and seductive manner. The body of the male is a treat for the women.

Here are some screen shots from the music video (Work From Home by Fifth Harmony Ft. Ty Dolla $ign) showing what the "FEMALE GAZE" is particularly looking at, in need for the sexual pleasure, desire and love.
